Inspired by biophilic design elements, Turner Design was engaged by MKDC Design Consultants to create wayfinding signage and a series of glazing graphics to reflect the operations of the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation.

The design narrative starts with the ground floor subterranean concept, which complements the internal finishes of rammed earth and dark, natural hues. The middle levels continue the layered earth concept to include forests and rivers, through to the air theme on the top floor.

Car park graphics adjacent to the wet labs were designed to reference Macroalgae and Phytoplankton along with submerged plants that perform a number of important ecological functions in both estuarine and freshwater systems.
